We got one, not in a gem though. they have a tighter V than a gen3 but are still fairly bulky in the front for all the quad cam s*#t like sensors and the belt and stuff like that. They go hard as a mofo though! Can you spell 1UFZE edit tune!

I'd avoid the strut tower altogether, you don't need it.
I think this is what Gene meant, but what I'd do is replace the bump stopper disc on the lower control arm, with a little fabricated plate of metal that the bottom end of a coilover can bolt to, then, with two metal tubes on either side, slot the upper end of the coilover straight onto the upper control arm main bolt. Easy as.
If you could get a coilover compact enough, with a shock absorber on it, you could do away with the Gem shocks altogether, leaving your strut towers free for the flux capacitors you've always wanted.
That's my plan on the TX anyway, if the Kingsprings ever underwhelm me (hasn't happened yet).
