There is no reason I can think of that would prevent using a standard fuse.
I have had a look in the Gregorys manual but haven't been able to find a current rating. Not even in the electrical specifications. Stupid manual just says use a replacement fusible link of the specified amperage only.
Perhaps try ringing the local holden spare parts or an auto electrician for sizes.

This place has auto resetting circuit breakers.

I've replaced all my fusable links with normal fuses,

Car runs fine.

I can check and tell you what size fuse they are if you need?

fuse in relation to the size of the wire, that is all you need to work out.

The info in the Isuzu PF50 manual says the main fusible link at the battery is rated as:
fusing current (15 seconds) - 190A
The wiring diagram in the Holden supplement for all Gemini models shows in metric wire gauge:
TC
Battery (black) 1.25

TD
Battery (black) 1.25
Ignition (brown) 0.3
Alternator (brown) 0.3

Hope that may shed some light on things.

I'll have a look at the PF60 manual when I get a chance.

fusing current (15 seconds) - 190A
That must be something else - those wire flinks max out at around 40A. 190A is enough to run the starter motor, but few if any manufacturers ever do that.

The wire flink max ratings are:
0.3 Br 13A
0.4 G 16A
0.7 R 21A
1.0 B 26A
(There is also a bLue which I think is ~36A)

So the Gem uses 13A & 26A flinks.

As TG2k says, it's their attached wire size/rating that determines what they should be, except in the case of the alternator to battery - but that's another story.

To be safe, you should replace with 10A & 25A respectively (BRown & Black), though 15A for Br should be okay (but try the smaller first).

In-line blade fuseholders are easy to get (Dick Smith, Jaycar, sometimes Bunnings) and they are usually rated to carry 30A.

The battery-alternator flink can be increased in size. I'm not sure why they chose such a small flink. I run a plastic 40A in my car, but may increase that later.

thanks for the info guys. i did go through the gregorys manual and it didnt give much any on the fusable link ratings i did put a 10a fuse on the drivers side one and the car is running again but for a 140a flink or fuse near the battery thats sounds abit excessive but you never know..
thanks again guys.

Forget 140 or 190A.
And 70A is too big - it is NOT a Commodore.

Try an inline blade as I suggested above.

If you find you need above 30A, you'll need plastic flinks.
And if you do that, I have a neat solution for you.

Remember the Gem's original alt flink was 13A.
The Commodore's equivalent is 70A.
Similar for Gemini's main flink being 26A, c'dore is 80A.
(Depending on c'dore model. They started using the flink boxes that Mazda and others were using a decade earlier. Ditto with Fords and their flying wire flinks (idiots!).
