- anyone done it?
- are the sumps a front or rear sump?
- Stock Sump fit in a gem as is? or need modifying?

Lol, can't believe you're posting this!

They are front sump, you need a hq sump for a gem.

yeah i was about to ask which of the early holdens had the rear sumps.
i goggle imaged for them but could get a good enough angle to see how the sumps were.

Correct.

The sumps are cheap as s*#t off eBay but the oil pic ups are a little harder to come by.

what's the plan??

Are early 308 carby blocks the same as the injected 304 blocks?

Not really. Most parts are interchangeable but the blocks do vary on design.

Late vs series 2 to the end of production are hailed as the strongest and have the best oil delivery but I think alot of it is hype really

im thinking if i find an SS cheap enough, for the drift gem, maybe swap it out with the D1.

I didn't think they were the same ,, aren't the later model blocks 4 bolt

Why are you even contemplating a 5L?

costs involved. 304 i could buy a whole SS that would have everything i need for less then what i could get just the LS engine on its own for.

1UZ would be fine, but again i could get a whole SS for the same price as a manual box and clutch to suit the 1UZ


3800 is looking more likely for easy of swap

my drift car.
my old tired 4zd1 has lasted along time getting the s*#t flogged out of it.. so a lazy 5L should be fine
