timing and clunking noise?

Post by lokest »

hi all,

gem has been immobile for 7 years and recently got it restarted. the mechanic said the person who had rebuilt my motor had the timing back to front. he got it going but it runs very rough and he said eventually he wants to reset the timing (right now its going through the pits to get reregistered) i wanted to know how big of a job this is and how long it should take and what i should be paying?

i also have a bit of a clunking noise when i change gears or when i take my foot off the accelerator. feels like something might be loose underneath the car, any time it jolts a bit it feels like something under the car is loose... any ideas?

cheers

the clunking noise sounds like your universal joint.

Its the Torque Tube rubber , they all break and then you have excess movement during gear changes etc .
