More power from the stock engine?

Post by Te sl »

Hey im new to the forum but I didn't find any good information on the stock engine. My goal is to keep the stock engine and get some more power out of it without spending heaps of money so it would be great if someone gave me some tips
Thanks.

Welcome to Ozgemini!
There's plenty of good info around about basic engine modifications.

My advice, do it once do it right.
If you were after a mild gain I would start with:
Compression / leak down test, if ok build a good head.
-a new / reconditioned head with oversize valves, new springs and a mild camshaft.
-Bigger carby 32/36 DGV or 38/38 DGMS will be plenty
-extractors and 1"3/4 or 2" exhaust.
-electronic ignition.

Should be good for around 75 to 90 BHP, which is plenty of fun in a 900kg car

This guy he knows!!!

With your weber choice make sure you're jets are suited to the engine too. Unbelievable how much difference that makes!

My Coupe has pretty much the same mods less Carby and the thing rockets along! Fast enough to have some good fun but not fast that'll get you into trouble.

Ass dyno suggest about 70hp in mine :D Good for about a 17sec quarter :P
