This is the last I got from the seller
He lost boost and started blowing pure white smoke and teh intercooler and inlet pipes where full of oil but there was no oil in the catch can.
Apparently if there was oil in the catch can that is a good sign the motor is okay.

That sounds like it was just a turbo seal failure. If the seal goes you loose pressure as well as oil getting dumped into the intake. As long as it didn't run low on oil being driven home. Few kilometers should be ok.
I once got a gut load of white smoke while cruising along the Hume freeway just north of Euroa behind an interstate coach. Absolutely let loose. Lost power and pulled over straight away. I checked he was ok and gave the driver a lift to the next main town to ring for a backup. It was just before mobiles were everyday common things. He threw me a $50 for that. Pretty cool.

SR20DE was used in the NX coupe, Pulsar N14, Pulsar N15 and Serena.
CA18DE was used in EXA KN13.
The engines were possibly shiped in as units, not actually built here on assembly lines but I can't tell for sure, I never worked at Nissan. Much of the Nissan product was made from CKD components. I used to drive past the Nissan plant at Centre Rd, Springvale every day. Saw lots of big wooden boxes stacked there as well as going in and out of the factory grounds.

And I wasn't saying before that SR pistons will fit CA's, I somewhat doubt it, Just saying that you can get SR forgies f*#cking easy, import or not, and the CA having a similar following should be just as easy.

If only that reasoning were always the way in the automotive game because unfotunately you can't always bet on it being that way.
If someone has definately researched it and know for sure they are easy to come by then that's great. It means there must be a chain of supply rolling into the country not only for the engines but for parts as well. It's definately not the norm and in some cases, just getting parts for factory distributed cars can mean a wait for an overseas delivery. That is especially true for cars that are only assembled here from imported parts.
Some cars, you can only get replacement parts from the actual company themselves. Not all cars have an after market source of parts available. lets look at gaskets for example... get me an 1990 Audi head gasket, a 110 Landrover diesel inlet manifold gasket, a 1988 Mercedes Benz water pump gasket, a 1978 BMW VRS set... all available from the distributor network only. No aftermarket supply.
Diesel engines are even worse when it comes to parts supply.

definately take the turbo to a specialist, if the shaft isn't balanced properly, it'll fly apart.sniper007 wrote:I am getting the motor tomorrow.

I am pretty good with this so don't mind pulling it apart but I have never worked on a turbo myself.
